Use cloches or covering to warm the soil for early vegetable sowings.
Raise lettuce, salad crops and strawberry plants for early picking, in a poly tunnel or greenhouse.
Continue harvesting parsnips, kale, leeks, winter cabbage, chard, spinach and Brussels sprouts
Dig up congested snowdrops and winter aconites, replenish soil and redistribute plants.
Trim lawn edges and reseed bare or worn patches
Apply preservative to timber fences, sheds and pergolas.
Spray patios to treat slippery surfaces.
Using purpose cleaner remove moss, mould, algae and dirt from decking.
When dry apply protective application to decking.
Repair, upgrade or create new hard landscaping.
Replace tired old roses with some of the new excellent disease resistant varieties.
Plant bare root roses, trees, shrubs, canes and bushes.
Prune shrub roses.
Opportunity to move existing shrubs to better locations.
Water new or moved plantings in dry spells.
Start forcing rhubarb and seakale.
Check planted containers of spring bulbs.
Finish taking hardwood cuttings.
Trim wall climbers into shape.
Prune buddleias and late summer flowering clematis.
Prune wisteria, hardy fuchsia and cornus.
Prune apple and pear cordons, fans and espaliers.
Prune blackberry, gooseberry and loganberry.
Prune summer fruiting raspberry.
Prune black, red and white currents.
Prune fig.
