Show Sweet Peas On Sale

sweet peas
Our show Manager Tim Speller has a further
100 sweet pea plants of show varieties
which will be on sale at the HIHS afternoon talk
on Wednesday 27th February.

The aim being to encourage growing sweet peas,
and showing the blooms at the June HIHS Flower show.

Procured from the nursery of Roger Parsons,
these young plants of top varieties include:
Bill's Choice, Queen of Hearts and Windsor,
will need a little care and attention
as the days lengthen and temperatures rise.

at the HIHS Spring Show Saturday 23rd March.

Chief Steward Vacancy

A vacancy has arisen for a Chief Steward
to cover the Horticultural Society’s three shows
staged in March, June and September
and to manage the show preparation
and to assist the Show Manager.

They will be well supported
by the outgoing Chief Steward
and the Show Sub-Show Committee.

Under the Floral Art section Class 87,
it should read Eastern Promise - an exhibit
and not as published,
Eastern Promise - an exhibit of vertical parallel lines.

Venue For HIHS Shows

Community centre
The venue for the HIHS Shows is the
Hayling Island Community Centre,
Station Road, Hayling Island, PO11 0HB.

The Buzz of the Show

It is a real social occasion with a buzz from
setting up the hall on Friday evening,
then Saturday morning staging of exhibits and judging,
the afternoon public opening and trophy presentations,
until the final clearing away late Saturday afternoon.

Additional Attractions

An afternoon tea room offers home made cakes.
There are plant sales, traiding centre stall, tombola
guest tables and at the summer show a raffle.

Unwanted gifts! Please consider for the Show Tombolas.
Take your elements to Norman at 27 Park Road,
to a lecture meeting or to the Trading Centre.
Every little helps to make the tombola exciting
and profitable for the HIHS.
