HFHS Quiz Final

The final of Hampshire Federation of Horticultural Societies
annual quiz was held at Sparsholt College on 23rd February.

Four teams had made it through from the preliminary round
held back in September of 2018.

The winners were Four Marks Horticultural Society,
second was Liphook and District Horticultural Society,
joint third were Emsworth Horticultural Society
and Ropley Horticultural Society.

Longstanding HIHS member Peter Collett is retiring
from President of the Hampshire Federation.

He has well served both the HIHS, HFHS and RHS,
in many capacities, over many years.

We offer our thanks for his dedication
and wish him a happy forthcoming 88th birthday.

Positive Pathways Help

On Monday 15th October a team of volunteers
from Positive Pathways travelled to Hayling College
to work with our Growing Together initiative
in the Polytunnel at Hayling College.

This years growth was cleared
and the ground prepaired ready for spring planting.

A fantastic achievement on the one visit
and worthy of the highest praise.

Chief Steward Vacancy


A vacancy has arisen for a Chief Steward
to cover the Horticultural Society’s three shows
staged in March, June and September
and to manage the show preparation
and to assist the Show Manager.

They will be well supported
by the outgoing Chief Steward
and the Show Sub-Show Committee.

Peter Maunder Garden Competition

The Hampshire Federation of Horticultural Societies
organise an annual garden competition, open to HIHS members.

Entries are judged on the use of ground,
suitability of planting, maintenance and effect.

Download the Entry form which must be submitted by 31st May.
Download a copy of the Rules.

The judging takes place in late July.
The Veolia Trophy will be awarded at the HFHS AGM.
Prize monies are: 1st Prize £30, 2nd Prize £20, 3rd Prize £10.
